Never accept a settlement before talking to a lawyer

In the aftermath of an accident, you’re injured, in pain, probably missing work, and watching the bills pile up. When the insurance company swoops in with an offer of a few thousand dollars, it may look like a lifeline, but it’s a lowball offer. Accepting a too small payout for your injuries will weigh you down financially for years and seriously hurt your ability to afford recovery treatment – even in the short term.

If you or a loved one was injured in an accident, do not accept an offer from an insurance adjuster unless you have gone over your claim with a Florida personal injury lawyer.

The insurance companies don’t want you to know this, but most lawyers, including The Cerasa Law Firm LLC, offer free case evaluations to victims of accidents and other personal injuries.

Determined to get you the compensation you deserve

Our firm provides Central Florida residents who have been injured through no fault of their own with dedicated legal representation.

Attorney Michael Cerasa is passionate about helping good people hurt by someone else’s negligence or greed recover from their injuries. He believes everyone deserves access to aggressive and experienced legal representation. That’s why he offers free case evaluations and works on a contingency fee basis.

What happens at a free consultation?

We begin each consultation by simply asking you what happened. We answer any questions you have and then explain what you should expect during the legal process. We do not make big promises or pressure you to sign on with us during the first meeting. We simply want you to gain a basic understanding of how Florida law applies to your situation and know your options for moving forward.

The insurance adjusters are likely to try to discourage you from getting free legal advice. They’ll suggest that you don’t really need a lawyer, or mention that if you hire an attorney, you’ll lose a lot of your settlement to legal fees. But they have a team of lawyers on their side.

Don’t fall for it. Here’s what really happens when you hire an accident lawyer.

How your attorney gets paid

When a lawyer takes an accident case it’s with the understanding that their client doesn’t have the same deep pockets that the insurance companies do. If your insurance adjuster thought you were paying for a lawyer by the hour, they’d drag out your case until you were completely out of money then reject your claim.

That’s why we represent most accident clients on contingency, which means there are no upfront costs, no retainer fee, and no hourly rate for you to pay. In fact, if we can’t settle your case or get you a favorable verdict, we don’t get paid.

If we recover compensation, the final compensation tally will include our fee. Typically, a contingency lawyer earns 33 percent of a verdict or settlement.

Insurance adjusters want to frighten you into thinking a lawyer’s legal fee will take away funds you need to get your life back on track. What they don’t tell you is legal representation makes it much more likely to get a better outcome.
